The digital spirit of invention

More than ever, the 5th edition of the festival makes a connection between the past and present around the theme of the spirit of invention. This collaboration between the École Supérieure d’Art et Design Le Havre-Rouen (ESADHaR) and the École 42 Le Havre in the context of the Normandie Impressionniste festival is a great opportunity to create a zone of total creative freedom for a collective of art students, in the digital world.

All types of inventions are possible, to create digital objects that are innovative, hybrid, fun, educational, or poetic, aimed at the general public. The chosen digital creations are on the programme, as a sort of on-board festival.

The spirit of digital invention allows the students to work with players in contemporary creation, to experiment with the digital world, its creativity, its mutations and usages as applied to instruction in an art school. In this original educational project and digital experience, several encounters, called “hackathons”, have been organised from January to June 2024 with the students, opening up the possibility for exchanges, inspiration and collaborative work.

This project is being accompanied by the educational teams from both establishments and headed by Bachir Soussi-Chiadmi, a teacher at the ESADHaR.

The ESADHaR is a higher education establishment working in the fields of art, graphic design and literary creation. The ESADHaR awards national diplomas accredited by the Ministry of Culture: the Diplôme National d’Art (DNA)- an undergraduate degree; the Diplôme National Supérieur d’Expression Plastique (DNSEP) a graduate degree, and a RADIAN – PhD. The Rouen campus hosts the Art Department, while Le Havre is specialised in Graphic Design and Literary Creation.
