3 days to discover the city of a hundred spires
Day 1:

▶A walking visit to Rouen, "the city of a hundred spires", beginning with its unmissable Musée des Beaux-Arts and its exhibitions Whistler, the Butterfly Effect and David Hockney: Normandism.

▶Stroll through the pedestrian streets of the Martainville district, then drop into the Eglise and l’Aître Saint-Maclou to discover the dynamic, luminous installation Hulahoop, an installation by the Scale collective.

▶Head for the famous Place du Vieux Marché where archaeological digs have revealed the foundations of the Église Saint-Sauveur, where Corneille was baptised, then take in the exhibition Passion Japon at the nearby Musée de la Céramique.

Day 2:

▶Begin the day by discovering the Musée National de l’Education and Le Centre Photographique Rouen Normandie with its exhibition Laurent Millet, on the crossroads between art and scientific exploration.

▶Do not hesitate to drop into the Chapelle Corneille to attend one of the performances of Les Illuminations, a concert-installation of Benjamin Britten’s airs with Arthur Rimbaud’s verses, or the Abbatiale Saint Ouen on 22nd and 23rd May for the premiere of Stalker, a walk-around opera, which adapts Andrei Tarkovsky’s film, marked by cinematic Impressionism.

▶Round off your evening with stars in your eyes thanks to the projection Star and Stone: a kind of love … some say. And Bob Wilson’s Cathédrale de Lumière on the cathedral after nightfall.

Day 3:

▶Take a pleasant afternoon walk along the banks of the Seine at Rouen, to admire the liners at the cruiser terminal or the cruise ships navigating the Seine. Then dive into an extremely special interpretation of Monet’s famous Water Lilies with the British artist Oliver Beer at Le Hangar 107. Round off your day at the nearby skating rink on the Île Lacroix where you can skate on a luminous, interactive installation created by Miguel Chevalier, a pioneer of visual and digital art.
