This summer, Cherbourg-en-Cotentin is reactivating Daniel Buren’s Voile/Toile — Toile/Voile, thus underlining the impressionist parentage of a major work by this famous artist, between plein air, Norman colours and movement. It is made up of two parts. The first consists in a regatta of nine optimists with sails of white and coloured stripes, which will take place in the town’s emblematic bay, on 23 June. After this competition, the second part takes place: the sails will be exhibited from 6 July to 22 September in the Abbaye du Vœu’s refectory, presented in the order of the boats’ arrival.
