From Eugène Boudin to Albert Marquet, Venice has inspired the most prestigious artists. They all hope, in their own way, to convey the sensations experience before the shifting landscape of La Serenissima. Thus, the Impressionists were drawn by the beauty of this place: like all tourists, they lingered over the usual sites, but also left the beaten track and took in the small canals and the lagoon of real Venetians. This exhibition reveals the artistic gaze of the Impressionists and their contemporaries on this waterside city.
