Zao Wou-Ki

Les allées d'un autre monde

03.02 — 05.26

Print
This original exhibition is an invitation to grasp the creative freedom of Zao Wou-Ki, the best-known Chinese painter in the Western world and a great admirer of Monet. Around the magistral triptych Hommage à Claude Monet, which he made in 1991, watercolours, prints and ceramics have been brought together for the first time to convey the influence of impressionist atmospheres on the artist’s visual explorations. It reveals the poetic aura and creative progression of Zao Wou-Ki, whose journey embraced traditional Chinese art just as much as Western modernity, before finding a new route which is emancipated and free.
